Description
The Tikal I have here came out beautifully. There feels like there is a soul emitting from her, with just a hint of life. I usually rely on a characters eyes to help me transmit emotion to a viewer, but I didn’t really have that crutch this time. While that worried me at first, I am so glad I took that leap of faith after looking at the final project. It also helps that Tikal is the perfect character for this role. She has great spiritual strength, and it comes across so nicely here as she prays.
The animation here is very simple, but layered to add a feeling of complexity. My lacking skills when it comes to basic animation really slowed me down on this as it was just as much trial and error as it was actually knowing what to do next. That is why I practice I suppose, as I am certainly more qualified to tackle this kind of project after completing this piece.
This should serve to be a big step forward to a few future goals of mine, so I am quite happy with what I have done. It feels good to continue to lay the foundation for which I will build. There are always things I can get better at and knowing that is a pretty powerful motivation to move forward.
Oh, and before I forget the music I used for this is a cut up version of “Snowflake” by MaelouX that I got off of Newgrounds. Here is a link
