Description

(Consider this an entry into my Gamer Swag photo’s)

Well would ya look what was waiting by my doorstep a few days ago!

Yes that is a drawing done by the fantastic Steven Butler for yours truly ^^. Now before I lose myself to the darkest recesses of my mind only reserved to over-the-top fangirling *shudder* I do believe a tiny bit of backstory is an order.

Those of you that keep up with all things BroDogz must remember the comic covers that I’ve been tabbed to work on by my good buddy, :icondragonblitzstudios:

Namely, these two;

Commission: Son of the Thunder God 2 by BroDogz     Commisson: Son of the Thunder God Cover by BroDogz

Well, those two images were drawn by Mr. Butler as well, and it was a privilege and an honor to work somewhat indirectly with one of the Sonic artists that shaped what I am doing today. Fast-forward to a few weeks ago, and DragonBlitzStudios presented me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. He opened the door to play the middle man, and secure me a Butler original of my very own!

He graciously took time away from his own business’ booth, to help secure this little beauty for me. (It’s so nice that I have some connections to someone in the comic scene lol). He even got the guy to sign the thing and etch a BroDogz in there for me as well. Seriously how cool is that!

So a little mailing time later, and I have this thing sitting in front of me. Of course I immediately went out and framed the thing. The float frame is a seriously nice display touch btw. I’ve been pretty much staring at it ever since.

I’ve always been a fan of Butler’s style. I based quite a bit of my own off of his work as I grew up. Between him, Axer and Spaz, I think I developed the most as an artist learning from that trio.

When given the opportunity, I had to have the guy throw down on our two favorite characters, Sonic and Tails. It became even sweeter when I found out I could also squeeze Leeta and Lyco in there too! I love how he handles the wolfpack characters, the twins and Lupe particularly.

I’m so stoked that I get to have this hangin on my wall. Childhood BroDogz would be foaming-at-the-mouth rabid if he could own something like this. Grown man BroDogz is right next to him, having a heart attack after bearing witness to the awesomeness (eh, don’t feel too bad for him… he had a good run). Teenager BroDogz is over in a corner being emo, but one look at this and he had an epiphany that lead him to pick up a pencil and learn to draw. Not sure how all this works without a time machine, but this is just a description so its not like I have to make sense anyway.

Boggidie-Boggidie-Boo!

Seriously though, its little things like this that just make your day whenever you see them. It’s like a portal back in time to see where I came from. What I idolized then and what got me into these characters. Drawing Sonic, Tails and the rest of the lot are a big reason why I love these guys so much, and by getting this, from someone who’s lived that dream and taught me so much…

It’s the best thing I could have asked for.

I mean look at it. It’s something Butler made just for me. It just makes you want to squeal. You know, in a manly, refined, totally not a Japanese schoolgirl kinda way.

*Manly Squeal*

Yeah. That’ll do.

Back to staring at this thing for me.

Thanks DBS. Thanks Butler.

(if you guys squint really hard, you can actually see ½ of the BroDogz machine as a reflection in the glass of this image. Gotta say, I’m a good lookin dude. So strapped too. Look out ladies)
