Sol on Fire

Time to crank up the heat on my Anniversary Series. As you all got to see on that coming soon sneak peek, next in line is our resident Pyrokinetic Princess, Blaze the Cat.

Well, I’ve got a lot so say about this character. Ever since it came out Sonic Rush has ranked right up there with my all time favorite Sonic games. Everything about it was all you could possibly want in a handheld title. I imagine a good deal of my respect for that title has something to do with its heroine. Pushing her acrobatic moves through that stylish game is nothing short of an adrenaline rush (pun intended). Even the storyline, which ended up pitting her against and then side by side the blue blur was something to remember.

Blaze as a character is just flawless. She carries that regal formality with a dignity and pride that you would expect of someone of her rank. She carries her burdens on her sleeve and you have to respect her for that. Even when the time came for her to develop, she did it in believable way. Sonic worked with her in an hour of need, and she’s all the better for accepting what he had to say. She’s just an awesome character for all the right reasons.

I got to play with a lot of those qualities in this picture. Blaze is still the stoic individual she always was. I went a little farther than most of my other pictures when it came to the pose for this one, and I got a chance to play around with the fire (not easy).

So I guess that wraps this one up. Blaze was a ton of fun, but now I gotta steal away into the night and prepare for the character coming up next. Not sure if I’ll do a “coming soon” of that one…. I might just let it drop in out of the blue….. you guys better keep your eyes peeled just in case.

This project was started on the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, June 23, 2011. It will encompass numerous characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, comic books and TV shows.
