Comm: Sonic Blaze and MLP - Whirlwind Waltz

Whirlwind Waltz, Turbo Tango, Speedy Salsa, Hedgehog Hustle, Sonic Shuffle… man I went through a ton of potential titles for this one, but the end result is always the same.

That. Hog. Can. Dance.

And don’t you ever forget it. (Blaze won’t lol)

This is a commission for my good pal . If you couldn’t tell, it’s another piece of chapter art for his Chaos in Equestria story. To catch up on what is happening here, you’ll want to check out Chapter 32. I’ll leave you a nice shortcut to it, it’s the least I can do.

I did probably do a little more for this than the usual Workz level commission, but I can chalk a lot of that up to the freedom I had to tackle this image. SN came to me with a pose, but really let me freewheel how I wanted to build the image from the ground up. I kinda got carried away a bit, and before you know it I had this think sitting on my computer screen.

Dat Dress Yo.

I got to play with some old favorites as far as artist tricks go. Giving the characters in the spotlight a touch of glow really makes them jump off the page and pulls in the readers. You also gotta love the emotions on all the ponies. Rairty enjoys herself a good exhibition of dance skill and BonBon is straight fangirling over there in the corner. lol

Needless to say Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, BonBon and Lyra will all be lining up for their turn to dance with Big Blue here.

It was my first time working with a few of these faces, but it’s all good.

It’s been a long time since I’ve drawn any dance stuff, but like most everything else it just comes down to planning and pose work. Something I do very, very well.
