Comm: Skylanders and Donkey Kong- Parallel Paths

swung by once again to order another piece and the subjects for this commission were to be six separate characters and a pair of differing backdrops to boot! (My poor fingers!) Needless to say that is quite a bit of work. I was given specific poses and actions for each participant so the task was pretty much clear to me from start to finish.

I have a little bit of experience to fall back on when drawing some of these characters, but this was my first shot at Diddy, Kritter and Chompy. Luckily they are not the primary focus of the image so I was not under a whole lot of pressure to get them each "exactly" right. Special effects are always fun and I got to add a good bit of them to this image. I think they each add a lot to the picture as a whole. 

I think the thing I like the best about this piece is that it tells a little bit of a story. you can track both Spyro's and DK's pathways to see where they have been, and what they did. It manages to tell a tale without a bit of text and that should always be viewed as a victory in my book. You don't have to read this description to see what is going on in the image, it is completely explained in the picture itself.
